The conservation data sheets are based on detailed field work in addition to research from literature and herbaria. For each species they display the following information: description, ecology, phytosociology, distribution map, conservation status, threats and conservation measures. They aim to provide the basic information required by those responsible for nature conservation.
Since 1995, the CPS-SKEW has drafted data sheets in collaboration with Christoph Käsermann, a biologist hired in the framework of the project "Research on distribution and actual level of threat of Swiss plant species threatened and rare at European level"; this research has been extended in collaboration with the Swiss Floristic Network (CRSF) and numerous professional and amateur botanists.
Results for 132 species studied between from 1995 to 1998 have been summarized in the book published by the Swiss Federal Office for Environment (FOEN, formerly OFEFP): KAESERMANN, C. & D.M. MOSER, 1999
- Merkblätter Artenschutz – Blütenpflanzen und Farne. Stand: Oktober 1999.
- Fiches pratiques pour la conservation: plantes à fleurs et fougères. Etat: octobre 1999.
-> Order: FOEN (SFr. 25.-).
Data sheets for 10 more species have been prepared until 2001.
Data sheets for 142 species are available on Internet in German and French.
